Hull Prepares for Group Bookers: 17/18 November Date for Diaries. Sistine Chapel Highlight.
6/27/2019
Tour planners wishing to see exactly why Hull was named UK City of Culture for 2017 can now sign up for a special and high quality group buyer showcase 17/18 November 2019.
Arranged by Visit Hull and East Yorkshire [VHEY] and
coordinated by national travel trade company Steve Reed Tourism Ltd, the event
will highlight some of the superb attractions, products and services for coach
and tour operators and GTOS. The trip even includes a glimpse of the famed
Sistine Chapel.
With operators hosted at the centrally situated
Doubletree by Hilton Hotel for the Sunday night 17th November, the
delegates will be taken on a fascinating and informative tour. The sites will include
Trinity Market; Ferens Art Gallery; Hull Maritime Museum and the Paragon
Arcade.
The visit also includes dinner at the iconic Marco
Pierre White restaurant and a mouth-watering brewery tour at the Tap House.
Hull’s famed Museum Quarter will precede a tour of
Hull Minster which will include a tour of the Sistine Chapel and the option of
a stunning roof top tour. Ever-popular attraction the Deep will feature as will
an important ‘Meet the Group Buyer’ workshop. Here the attendees can talk
business and bookings face to face with the movers and shakers of the Hull and
Visit Yorkshire tourism industry.
A true highlight will be Michelangelo’s
Sistine Chapel: A Different View. Officially licensed by the
Vatican Museums, the exhibition will allow unprecedented closeness to the
magnificent works which adorn the chapel ceiling, normally 22 metres above
visitors’ heads. Working in partnership with the Vatican Museums, the
frescoes have been photographed, reproduced at high resolution and transferred
onto special fabric webs to create highly detailed display panels. This
technique allows a true-to-life reproduction of the ceiling and gives visitors
a unique opportunity for an otherwise impossible close-up view of his
brushwork.
‘We’re very glad to have this opportunity to showcase
our wonderful and dynamic city to tour buyers,’ says Tina Mott of Visit Hull
and East Yorkshire.
‘With the huge success of the City of Culture Year,
Hull is continuing to build upon our increased profile with business-generating
events such as 17/18 November. We appreciate too the support and commitment of
the many tourism businesses across the city who have come together to help make
this initiative a reality.’
