25th June: Butterfly Exploration for Tour Planners.

Tour planners are being invited to come face to face with some historical figures during a special Hampshire Groups Showcase event on Monday 25th June. It takes place from 10.30 – 16.30.

The Gilbert White and Oates Collections are combining forces with nearby Chawton House and Gardens to help unveil this delightful part of the United Kingdom to GTOS and coach and tour operators. And their top new facilities for groups will be the stars of the show.

Organised by Hampshire-based Steve Reed Tourism Ltd, the tour VIPS will discover the superb visitor facilities now available at Gilbert White House in pretty Selborne Village – including coach parking, superb café, shops, attractive new galleries and tours.

It’s famous for its intrepid explorers and Gilbert White’s ground-breaking investigation of the natural world. The fantastic visitor facilities for groups include the fascinating new galleries about the amazing men that lived at Gilbert White House. Apart from the world famous and pioneering naturalist Gilbert White, the house was also the home for explorer Frank Oates and Captain Oates of Scott Expedition fame.

Commencing at 10.30 am the programme includes tours of the house itself; a butterfly walk; lunch in the new White’s Café and a chance to discover some truly historic roses.

Nearby Chawton House in Jane Austen’s Chawton Village will also be greeting the tour planners on that day – from 14.15 they will treating the guests to a tour of the historic house and the wonderful gardens there. The house has very strong Jane Austen connections. Attendees can also enjoy clotted cream afternoon teas.

Steve Reed is the MD of Steve Reed Tourism Ltd and also a Director of the national organisation for group travel organisers AGTO.

‘We’re proud to be located so close to such exciting and fascinating attractions for groups. Gilbert White and the Oates Collections are able to offer groups more than ever before with their new facilities there,’ explains Steve.

‘And it will be super to include Chawton House as it’s a true hidden gem yet is so accessible for groups of all types.’

Any tour planner wishing to attend this event on 25th June should email steve@stevereedtourism.co.uk  or telephone [01420] 560288.
